The extension provides protection to an insured for loss sustained arising from unauthorised use of their telecommunications network.
Telecommunications Fraud is the use of a telecoms system without the intent to pay. The loss often arises from fraudulent call transferring or the diversion of premium numbers to a network leaving the subscriber of such network with large bills, often running into many thousands of pounds.
